Duarte da Costa is a communication and graphic designer. Throughout his academic career, and although initially in a candid way, he began to get interested in functionality and symbolism of images in design, not only in an attempt to try to understand the functional unemployment that tends to be attributed to them, but also to try to praise and privilege their use in tasks that were once ontological to design.

In this sense, Duarte da Costa's work seeks to communicate messages in which the image, under the various terms in which it currently resides, is assumed to be the preferred element for experimentation and use, going against the typographic domain that design currently chooses to follow during these last years.

Besides his interest in art direction and in the development of visual identities and the respective design typologies associated with this type of work, there is also an appreciation for editing audiovisual pieces, as well as for the creation and experimentation practices of sound art.
